The instruments of a salsa band

6.Put it together: the groove

A band doesn't need every instrument to get people dancing. Four are enough: the clave that everything fits around, the congas and the bass that carry the groove, and the campana, whose low tone marks 1, 3, 5 and 7.

Press play to hear those four together, in 2-3 clave. Count along with the bell's low tone: it lands on every odd count, so your 1 is always one of them.
